The HIT Startup Showcase Challenge
What's the challenge?
In a nutshell, we want to hear how your idea or startup can deliver better care and improve public health in the US. Tell us how your solution can solve a pressing healthcare problem. For example - do you have a better way to visualize healthcare trends, prevent adverse drug reactions or enable more efficient disease management by patients themselves?
Includes, but not limited to, health IT solutions in these areas:
- decision support – proactive approaches for anticipating health issues
- personal health data applications
- analytical tool development
- data visualization
- health information exchange models
- mobile monitoring & tracking
- clinical efficiency
Remember, this is a challenge for health IT (HIT) entrepreneurs; not biotech or medical devices.
How will you be judged?
Applications will be evaluated based on the promise of the venture, addressable market size, founding teams, and use of innovative technology and business models. For Series-A ready companies, customer traction will be an additional factor.
Who should apply?
We're encouraging HIT entrepreneurs from across the US to apply – students, scientists and techies of all stripes.
We will select 5 finalists in 2 categories – making it 10 finalists in total. Categories are:
- Very early stage companies – under 2 years old and have received less than
$500K in funding
- Series A-ready companies – under 3 years old and have received less than
$1.5 M in funding
What do you win?
The 10 finalists will win something as good as money. They will get a chance to present their ideas to the most influential VCs and angels investing in HIT today. Finalists will also be paired up with a mentor to help them hone their ideas and presentations between August 25th and September 22nd. Mentors will include founders of successful HIT companies including Jeff Tangney, founder of Epocrates and Doximity and Ryan Howard, founder of Practice Fusion.
